We stock some of the finest oriental rugs and carpets in the world, and with quality comes the assurance of durability. Your rug is built to stand the test of time, and if looked after properly will look increasingly beautiful with age.
As an addition, we always offer our customers some simple tips that make looking after your Persian rug easy, and will keep it looking vibrant for years to come.
Spillages are part of life, and are generally easy to manage as long as you keep some table salt or baking soda to hand. After blotting (never scrubbing or wiping) with a cold, water-dampened cloth, apply generous amounts of salt or baking soda to cover the entire stain.
This will neutralise most stubborn stains. Allow to soak in for a few hours at least before vacuuming up and repeating the process. For serious spillages, we recommend a professional cleaning as soon as possible.
Handmade Persian and Oriental carpets and rugs are incredibly durable, but every so often it really helps to have your rug professionally hand-cleaned.
If you feel your rug could do with some extra care, our sister company, The Oriental Rug Repair Co. Ltd, provides free uplift and delivery for their professional stain-removal and deepcleaning service. Using traditional methods, each rug is handwashed with organic shampoo and then carefully dried, restoring its former vitality and ensuring no damage is caused to the precious wool and silk fibres.
Oriental rugs can be vacuumed regularly – avoiding the fringes of course. Over time, fine silt and dust can become embedded in
the foundations of the rug and become slightly abrasive. To limit the effects of this, one should lay the rug face down and vacuum
The vibrations from your vacuum will shake any extra dust out onto the floor. Then fold the rug back and vacuum the silt off the
floor, and repeat until no more dust is visible. We recommend doing this at least once a year, or more if your rug is in a place
that has a lot of footfall.
